Pontio, Bangor’s new home of arts and innovation is a big building over 8 floors. As well as Theatr Bryn Terfel and a cinema, there are a number of other performance areas, cafes, lecture theatres and innovation spaces. The new bilingual app helps visitors find their way around.
Mapping
We used the existing architectural AutoCad files to create Google Maps style illustrations for all 8 floors in the building – physically walking each floor prior to the building opening in November 2015 to ensure accuracy.
CMS
To enable Pontio to maintain and update the app, we built them a custom Content Management System.
The CMS allows editors to upload markers and highlighted areas to each of the 8 floors, utilising the same to-scale maps that are used in the app to ensure that lat/long data can be leveraged in the future.
