Sibrwd | Edinburgh Festival

Audiences can now experience Sibrwd (Welsh for ‘whisper’) at the Edinburgh Fringe. At ZOO Southside, Dawns Ysbrydion/Ghost Dance – a dance production with spoken Welsh language text – uses Sibrwd to convey the Welsh dialogue to English speakers

Sibrwd is a ground-breaking idea that gives theatre goers the ability to follow a performance in any language, designed around the needs of today’s audiences.

Beyond the Fringe, Sibrwd is available as a translation app to UK and international producers, presenters and festivals, and can accommodate any language and any number of languages simultaneously. Please contact Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru for more information.

Sibrwd has been developed by the Welsh language national theatre company, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, and digital innovation company Galactig, with support from the Digital Development and Research Fund for the Arts in Wales, (funded by NESTA and Arts Council Wales).
